General information only
The content of this site is patient education. It describes what puts a lid lower than it was, how the causes are told apart, and what treatment costs in recovery and risk. It is not a diagnosis, it is not a treatment recommendation for any individual, and it does not create a doctor-patient relationship.
No substitute for examination
Which of the four causes is present in your own lid depends on findings that can only be established by examining you: where the lid edge sits, how far it travels, where the brow is, and what the eye surface is doing. Reading this site cannot substitute for that, and a plan made from a website alone is a plan made without information.
Results vary and are not guaranteed
Individual results differ, healing takes months, and no surgeon and no website can guarantee an outcome. Any statement that appears to promise one should be treated with suspicion wherever you encounter it. The tissues continue to age after any operation, and further surgery may be needed later.
If something is wrong after surgery
If you have had eyelid surgery and develop rapidly increasing swelling, a tense painful area, spreading redness or fever, bleeding that does not stop, a lid that will not close, sudden visual change or new double vision, contact the treating team or seek emergency care immediately rather than waiting for a routine appointment.
